Inspiration for an Ironman Hopeful

An Ironman Triathlon is an endurance event consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and a 26.2-mile run, all completed in succession.  There are about 20 official Ironman Triathlons each year around the world, culminating in the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii in October.

I will be competing in Ironman Florida to be held in Panama City, FL on November 5, 2005, to raise awareness and money for Prostate Cancer Research.  My race will be dedicated to my uncle Sonny who will be my motivation during the long hours of training leading up to the big event and during the race itself.

Although I have completed numerous regular-distance triathlons (pictured above), this will be my first attempt at a full Ironman.  If all goes well, it should take me between 12-13 hours to complete... that is, if all goes well!
